EasyScan is a simple barcoding app for the Shopify platform. Using this app, you can create new orders by scanning barcodes at in-person events. You can also fulfill order from your online store and reduce packing errors.
EasyScan also makes it easy to manage your stock levels and barcodes. Using the app, you can do stock checks and produce stock level reports, as well as scan in new stock and increase your inventory levels in Shopify. Finally, you can generate and print barcodes to use with your products, right from the app.
Once you have installed the app, you will see it appear under the apps section of your Shopify admin portal. Go ahead and click on it to get started.
Testing Your Scanner
Most barcode scanners are compatible with EasyScan, but it’s always a good idea to test your scanner first. Plug the scanner into your computer, or connect it via Bluetooth.
Now open a text editor, such as Notepad, TextEdit, or even Microsoft Word or Excel. Type a line into the editor, and press enter. Now scan a barcode using the scanner. You should see the string of digits represented by the barcode appear on the screen.
If you can’t see a string of digits, you scanner may not be connected properly, or there may be an issue with it. If possible, try the same process with another scanner.
Scanning with a Mobile Device
You can also use the camera on most mobile devices, such as iPads or iPhones, to scan barcodes. To use this feature, open the EasyScan app via the Shopify App on your device. Then press the camera symbol next to the barcode input to start scanning with your device.
Note, this functionality requires the following app versions to enable us to access your camera:
- Shopify iOS v8.25.0 or above
- Shopify Android v8.24.0 or above
- Shopify Point of Sale iOS v5.32.0 or above
- Shopify Point of Sale Android v3.25.0 or above
